As most of Georg Jensenäó»s designs this wine cup is in the Art Nouveau style with the characteristic ornamental curved lines, organic structures, decorative ornaments of flora and fauna, and the use of honest and skilfully crafted materials.
In these hollowware pieces Georg Jensen has incorporated nature as decoration. The surface of the actual cup and the foot has the characteristic hammer marks, which Georg Jensen used to soften the reflection of light in the silver in order to create the greyish shimmer he associated with moonshine.
The chaser has worked on the stem of the wine cups to accentuate the pattern and has applied the hammer marks on the cups before handing over the pieces to the silversmith. Before soldering together the foot and the stem and then the cup, the silversmith spends a lot of time lining up the pieces to make sure that the angles are absolutely perfect. The smallest inaccuracy will make the wine cup look crooked.
Note: the delivery time is subject to stock availability.

Georg Jensen In 1904 the Danish silversmith Georg Jensen founded his first modest silver smithy in the heart of Copenhagen. Thirty years later, he had made an international name for himself. When he died in 1935, the New York Herald Tribune saluted him as "the greatest silversmith of the last 300 years."
